Foodlums Minutes 4-4-08

AWESOME LOCAL FOODS WEEK!

We started out the meeting with reflections on our money situation:
- the hot dog sale raised $367.30 - $115 that bought the hot dogs and buns.
- we still owe Dane $110 from the last sale and Zac $120 from various food that he bought.
- the econ. department is going to give us $50 (WHOA! nice!)
- we have $200 pending from student senate
- compost will cost $425 (but we'll get it back plus more after we sell it)
- we want to have at least $120 so that we can have hot dog sales in the future
- a certain amount of money will be necessary for buying drinks that we will be selling at earth day
- we still need to buy an animal from Heifer International (probably around half of what we earned at the hot dog sale after expenses-- about $126.)
- garden supplies need replenishing, which might cost us around $80
- materials to start cold frames... around $100
- there are $540 in our account right now (excluding any money mentioned above)
-- It is suggested that we wait until we have paid for the compost, raised some money from compost sales, and gotten on our feet again (a few more weeks) until we buy the animal or animals for Heifer International.

Jen suggested starting a garden supply drive for community gardens in the area that we could benefit from as well, so she's the head of that committee. Hopefully we'll get a lot of donations from the community and then we won't have to spend as much on garden supplies.

Garden stuff.
- we need lights for starting seeds, old yogurt cartons, cold frame material,

Earth Day
- Judy Clark from TV 13 wants to do an interview April 25 @5. Ane and Wendy are on it.
- our next plan is to sell refreshments at the foodlums table. The decision was made to have a water crew that will refill big water dispensers and to have kegs of different sodas that come from in-state (point rootbeer, jolly good sodas..) Ben is in charge of the refreshment committee.

Farmers market
-last indoor farmers market is this coming saturday at Trinity church -- the one on Clairmont with the ski jump roof
-outdoor farmers market starts first saturday in may. We're gonna be there!

Chair person Wiley Report
-wed. april 23rd (the day after earth day!) there will be a tree dedication ceremony on the campus mall to re-plant the council oak.
