Foodlums Minutes 9/26

Shed Plans
Duncan or Hickory might have some door connections.
Corey and Hickory will go to Hope Gospel building materials sight.

Hmong Picnic
Way to go Dylan for holding down the foodlums stuff for a while on wed. when no one else was there.
Way to go to everyone who helped with the preperation and the picnic.

Volunteering on Sunbow CSA Sun. 9-12

Sustainability Week oct. 20-23
Foodlums is helping to plan in cooperation with SNEHA, Conservationists, and Hobnailers
We'll have a table (day and time yet to be determined)
Anyone have a speaker they'd like to recommend we host?

Homecoming
Parade- SNEHA has a float that we can latch on to. E-mail Briana if you're interested.
Mona Lisa's- We're looking for representatives from foodlums to schmooze with alumni at Mona Lisa's on the Sat. of homecoming. It'd be a great way to throw in a few good words for Foodlums. (Dave, Corey, Isaac, and Ane are interested) If you want in, e-mail Corey.

Sustainability In E.C.
Meghan went to the first meeting and will be going to the meetings. If you want to giver her ideas to spew, e-mail her.

Hot Dog Sale
Oct. 8 (wed.) is the tentative date
Chili Making Tue. night at 8pm (oct. 7th) at the klomps/ nolan household. 1004 1st ave.

Foodlums Minutes 9/19/08

-Shed
shed plans can be viewed on the W drive.
we really like the blue doors as pictured, but mural doors are also being strongly considered

-Hmong picnic
tue. (9/23) - foodlums will help cut veggies at the UW extension office in Altoona
wed. (9/24)- foodlums will be helping to grill veggies and with childrens games at the picnic (pine pavillion in carson park)

-Just Local Food is moving... sometime.... you can sign up at the store to help on moving day.

-Compost grant
if you will be around this year and most of next year you could get a job managing compost through a grant. The grant still needs to be written, but Sarah Peterson is in a grant-writing class and Corey thinks she would help write it
the worms plan can be incorperated into the grant to help prove our dedication and excitement.
strange occurances are just alligning!! (grant, sarah peterson's grant-writing knowledge, and worms)

-Sunbow CSA far, could use some help 9-12 sun. morning. (sept 28)

-Homecoming
we really want to have issac run for homecoming court-- mostly as a way to raise awareness for foodlums, but also just for fun. imagine issac dressed in a suitcoat made of woven corn hair and pea buttons.
also, parade float could be amazing. i'm thinking a cornicopia...
yes.

-Potluck
was amazing. everyone agreed the spread was beyond dilectable and the company was out of this world!

Foodlums Minutes 9/12/08
NEWS FLASH:
there will be a foodlums potluck dinner this friday at a place that has yet to be confirmed!
start looking up recipes that can use local ingredients and don't miss the farmers market wed. in the morning or thur. in the afternoon (or on campus in the morning)

Officer positions are open-
treasurer, president, garden manager, 1/3 of a public relations trio, and maybe more
if you want in, elections are at our next meeting so beeee there

Earth day-
even though earth day isn't until April, the committee to organize the pheonix park celebration is getting started.
first meeting sept. 29th, 4:00 in the nursing building.

Cultivating Sustainable Agriculture Conference
in Madison, oct. 31-nov. 1
foodlums will be presenting about our efforts to get local, sustainable food on campus and student gardens
we can get a table at it too, but it will cost $20/day.
Hupy can get a poster printed for us.

on campus farmer's market
Danielle is brainstorming ideas to use money on blugold cards at the market.
it might be a possibility to have a system where people can swipe their blugold in davies and get tickets that they can pay with.

Worm composting
Dr. Hupy will give us some starter worms since he got a new kit and he doesn't have enough room in his basement.  we can sell products like worm tea--  like miracle grow on steroids.
we can use a room in phillips for worm farming

Coffee grounds pick-up
the coffee shop in davies will give us their extra coffee grounds again this year, but we need people to bring the bucket of grounds to the garden every week day some time in the evening-- 3 at the earliest.

-potting soil is still available by the 50 lb. bag
-watering schedule still have open days. contact Briana  (odegarbn) if you are interested. days that are especially   open because of ppl. being double scheduled are fri. sat. sun. mon. and wed.

Ultimate frisbee team for foodlums-- contact Ane Klomps if you're interested. More is better in this situation.
