Foodlums Minutes 4/9/10 Meeting

Organic Dairy farm tour
-College Republicans have invited us to go on a tour of an organic valley member dairy farm with them this coming Saturday. The farm belongs to the family of a CR member and they have been very involved nationwide with organic farming and have given lots of tours of their farms before, so it should be pretty sweet.
- We will meet at Towers circle to caravan out there at 2pm, Saturday, April 17 so they can give a tour 2:30- 4:30
- If you can drive, please come! It seems like a number of people had a conflict since the sweatshop workers will be speaking on campus at 4 so some may be heading back early while others can stay later if we have more than one car.

Bike race/ cook-off/ picnic/ kickball game/ space race
- Our founding vice-president, Trevor "Hot-Todders" Peterson, had an idea to have a cook-off (similar to our squash-off in the fall), but start it out with a bike-race around town to pick-up ingredients from different check-points. Sound a bit like a messenger-style race? well, there may be some inspiration there.
- So Trevor wasn't at the meeting, so we all just went wild building off of the idea and it's going to happen!
-Chris, Briana, and Katelyn are doing the detail planning of this event.
- The event will take off from the campus clock tower at 2pm on Sunday, April 18th (this coming Sunday) and will be a sort of space race... to the extent that there is a costume requirement that everyone wear something space related.
- We will be racing in two teams, which will be the cook-off teams. Each team is responsible for providing their own spices, flour, and sugar if needed. Other ingredients can be gathered during the race.
-Don't worry about this event interfering with your afternoon tea, because the rules mandate that we must all break for 4:00 tea at Infinitea.
-Recipes will be created during the race, so no preperation necessary there. Cooking houses are Danielle's and Chris's.
-The culmination of this spectacular event will be a picnic during which food will be shared and kickball will be played.
-Bring $3- $4 (to contribute for the food) and your bike and have a blast (-off?) this Sunday.
- If you have any questions, e-mail Briana (odegarbn@uwec.edu) or come to Friday's meeting)
